Tempest
Mirak
Varies
Born on M’raa in the year of Skulls, ten days before the Klingon and Lyran bombardment of the planet, the Mirak captain known as Tempest had a rather bitter childhood scavenging with other children across the Ash Plains of D’teri. His experiences during childhood marked him as somewhat of a loner, as often survival required betraying one’s friends.

The devestation inflicted on homeworld was severe, as most of the fertile hunting grounds outside of the polar regions of M’raa had been destroyed. Many Mirak were forced to the stars to continue the hunt and Tempest was no exception. Catching the one remaining eye of an ancient battle scarred old warrior, he was recruited into the Sun Storm clan, where he attended their now famous Military Academy in 2225 when just 10 years old.

At the time the Mirak Hegemony was little more than a squabbling collection of clans and tribes, that spent as much time fighting themselves as the spent raiding neighbouring star empires. A somewhat new empire, the Federation, bore the brunt of these raids resulting in the Federation Council demanding that the Patriarch stop these attacks or face the consequences.

However the then Patriarch, an ancient cat named Bird Murderer, had little power and a full scale war with the Federation soon erupted. Things went badly for the Mirak however as once again they resorted more to fighting each other than the enemy, who was fast advancing on all fronts.

Tempest served on the Devine Wind, the flagship of the Sun Storm clan, during this conflict where though challenging superiors and through conventional promotion, he quickly became first officer. It was the Sun Storm Clan and the Devine Wind that held the line in many desperate battles, both against Federation ships and the cowardly traitors that had defected to their side, despite several times having no means of resupplying their dwindling drone stocks. Tempest was personally given command of the Tsunami, a command he holds to this day by the leader of the Sun Storm clan, X’aos Zendar for his valour in combat. However Tempest began to become highly bitter at the state of the Mirak, believing rightly, that their lack of unity was tearing them apart.

Bird Murderer was soon forced to make peace with the Federation in 2239. A council of tribes was soon held, a process that resulted in a challenge to the Patriarch’s leadership by the Sun Storm clan. As custom dictated, the Patriach and 3 of his chosen champions faced off against the leader of the Sun Storm Clan, Zendar, and 3 of his champions, one of whom was Tempest. In the bloody battle that followed, it was Tempest himself who thrust his sword through Bird Murderer’s heart thus ending the battle in victory for his clan.

Zendar then was crowned ruler of the Mirak people. Together with the help of Tempest and others, he greatly strengthened the position of Patriach. In fact, today much of the strength of the Mirak Hegemony can be traced directly to the leadership X’aos Zendar and the shortlived Sun Storm Dynasty.

The Mirak’s elite military force, the KAT fleet, courted Tempest for entry into their ranks for some time. In 2262 he relented and is now a member of that formidable force. His battle carrier, the Tsunami is often at the forefront of their campaigns.

Typically a loner, Tempest works surprisingly well with cooperative missions with other fleet members. He is not a glory hound and is content to help with the overall fleet effort. Tempest has a talent for strategic and tactical thought, and often will lure the enemy to his doom with using sensor ghosting to make it appear as if all his missiles and fighters are gone.
