orn simply Seraph in the Earth year 2127 on the lost colony world of
Carsinia, Seraphs parents were members of a prominent merchants guild. There
influence and money allowed the world to prosper and survive, despite the
occupation of the Hydran core worlds by forces of the Klingon/Lyran alliance. In
2149, as he as a brash young Hydran, Seraph stole the remaining four Hydran
pseudo fighters built by Captain Janus some fourteen years earlier. Together with a
group of other likeminded youngsters keen to get a shot at the enemy, Seraph and
his band took a battered old freighter into occupied Hydran space. That the Lyran
captains who attempted to stop this vessel got the shock of their lives as 4 small
Hydran vessels attacked them is without doubt. Although a great victory was
achieved, 3 of the 4 pseudo fighters were completely destroyed and the remaining
fighter, Seraphs own vessel, was deemed to be unsalvagable.
Despite the public anger of Captain Janus, he was privately delighted by the
impressive display of his creations against superior vessels. However the reluctance
of the Hydran admirality to build more meant that no further Hydran psuedo
fighters have since been seen.
During the brief trial which followed Seraph was cleared of wrongdoing and earned
much acclaim from the free Hydran press. Today, one so young would not become
a captain but Seraph was given his own command soon afterwards.
Striking several times deep into occupied space with daring raids that seemed to
come out nowhere, he was soon nicknamed Shadow Seraph by his enemies. The
Klingons and Lyrans placed huge bounties on him and his vessel, the Black Wing,
however none were ever collected. He participated in the liberation campaigns of
the 2180s, however his ship was badly damaged in a fight with a Lyran starship in
2187 resulting in serious injuries that sidelined Seraph for over six months. He
recovered however to be one of the first Hydran captains to penetrate the
Lyran defence perimeter around the Hydran homeworld in 2190.
Throughout the relatively quieter period of Hydran history that followed the
restoration of independence in 2191, Seraph was given command of a new Ranger
heavy cruiser and he undertook several missions of exploration. He is understood to
have made first contact with the Federation in 2197 and his cordial nature helped
to cement the long standing alliance between the two star nations that was made
offical in 2206.
The process of rebuilding from the occupation was a long one and Seraph retired
from the military for almost 30 years in order to assist with the reconstruction.
During that time he also had a family of his own on the core Hydran world of
Farianar.
When the general war broke out, Shadow Seraph was again called upon to serve in
the Royal Hydran Armada and did so with distinction, once again striking fear into
the hearts of opponents with his seeming ability to come out of nowhere and strike
unexpectedly.

Captain Seraph is a brutal opponent. He fights so aggressively that
many have prefered to run rather than face his wrath. The penalty for failing to
stop his waves of fighters, crippling hellbore attacks and overloaded fushion beam
bombardments is death, so a prudent captain would be wise to have all his wits
about him when fighting the Shadow.
