Captain John Vaughn was born on the planet of Berringaria (ed - this
planet was named as a core Federation world by Kai Winn in DS9. Berringa Vale also happens to be the name of my parents house so you’re getting kind of honoured here John ) in the year 2226. He was one of the youngest to ever be accepted into Starfleet Academy, managing to do so at the rather tender age of 16.
Although he sometimes found being 2 years younger than his classmates
daunting Cadet Vaughn impressed his instructors with a high work ethic and a low stress factor whilst under battle conditions. Additional note: It is said that Cadet Vaughn was considered to have passed the Kobyashi Maru test by mere virtue of his steadfast resolve in the face of death whereby his peers cowered under
consoles.
His first command was the USS Fury in 2259. Curiously he remained aboard the
Fury, a Akula class frigate for five years, despite being offered higher
commands.
After distinquished scientific and diplomatic service Vaughn was offered the
command of a brand new New Jersey class battlecruiser, the USS Liberty, a
command he promptly accepted. Since that time the Liberty has seen action
throughout the General War and assisted with the defense of Earth during the
ISC
War of Pacification.
It is because of the two wars and the continuing instability in the galaxy
that
Captain Vaughn and his ship have also been attached to the 1AF Federation
fleet.
It is a fleet meant only for the best of the best and is the equivilant or
better than
many elite military units fielded by other stellar governments.
An aggressive pacifist if ever there was such a thing,
Captain
Vaughn drives his crew with the inner fire that burns within himself. An
opponent
can also be shocked to find that traditional anti-Federation tactics are not
nearly
as effective against one of the most able captains in Starfleet.
