Nomad
Lyran
Draupnir
Nomad has been known by many names and flown among many
empires? fleets. Starfleet intelligence operatives report that an informant
aboard Nomad?s flagship has offered evidence to suggest that the wandering captain is actually a shape-shifter. He first came into public attention when he was revealed to be a Hydran/Lyran double agent. While his shame was great, he eventually earned some small respect as a Klingon captain named "Kuckoo" or "Kersh," depending upon his whim. He later reappeared under the name of Kuckoo while serving as a Warlord and advisor to the Kzinti Patriarch. After some success in coordinating a major offensive against the Lyrans, he inexplicably turned up among
the ranks of Lyran captains using his current alias. It is suspected, but
not confirmed, that he has also briefly served in the Romulan, ISC, and even Federation militaries. It is not known what keeps him tied to the Lyrans at present, but considering his past actions against them, perhaps their leaders have found it better to keep him under close scrutiny -- and in the crosshairs of their targeting systems, just in case.

Due to his wide variety of experience with all known weapons systems, Nomad is less than an expert with any of them, and possibly downright pathetic in his use of the plasma torpedo. He seems partial to using his phasers to
disable, rather than kill, whenever possible. Perhaps he does so to prolong the agony of his victims, though none who have experienced his tortures have survived to report on them.

While he has been defeated in battle more times than even he could guess, his alleged shape-shifting abilities may be responsible for extending his lifespan past what any observer would have wagered. Persistance and fleet strategy may be his greatest assets, often offsetting his shortcomings in battle.
