Born on Earth in the year 2216 Hippocrates was born the son of a prominant Federation diplomat. Although his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps and become a diplomat, Hippocrates dreamed of following in the footsteps of pioneers like Captain Archer and command a starship. Upon gaining entrance to the academy, Hippocrates was recognised as having outstanding command potential. As a Lieutenant Commander he was give his first command, a small patrol ship, the USS Onyx Star in 2240. He was promoted to Commander and given the high profile command of Starbase 12 beating out several higher ranked officers to the job in 2244. There he made several inroads into pirate and criminal activity in the sector resulting in a death sentence being placed on his head by the Orion pirate syndicate. Thirsting for action on a starship again, he was promoted to full Captain in 2250 and given command of a heavy cruiser. During the relatively peaceful era of the 2250s, Captain Hippocrates and crew were sent on two five year missions of peace and exploration to the Typhon and Lacerta sectors respectively. When the General War broke out in 2261, Captain Hippocrates, somewhat reluctantly given his peaceful nature, participated in several great Federation offensives with great vigor. During the Pacification conflict, Hippocrates again helped turn back the Pacifist forces advances on Mraa and Earth helping to ensure Alliance victory. During the Pacification conflict his ship was badly damaged during an encounter with Captain Janus although he and his crew managed to escape.
